Easy Beer Bread
I found this recipe somewhere in cyberspace. I feel badly because I have no idea where, and it's one of the best and easiest recipes I've ever found for homemade bread. If you know me at all, you know I'm a no-muss, no-fuss kinda gal. I don't knead, and I don't like waiting for things to rise. When I found this recipe I thought I'd try it - only three ingredients and it sounded easy. It was, and it was delicious too. Easy and quick enough for a weeknight, using three simple ingredients, two of which you probably have in your kitchen right now. I had to buy the self-rising flour, but I've used it a few times since (for this bread of course).
Quick & Easy Beer Bread
3 cups self-rising flour
3 Tablespoons sugar
1 bottle (12 oz.) beer (Budweiser works best for cooking/baking in my opinion)
Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray loaf pan with non stick spray. Sift flour (important or your bread will be like a brick) into a medium sized bowl. Mix in sugar, then pour in beer, mix well. Spoon batter in pan. Bake in 375 oven for 50 minutes. Pour a little melted butter over top and sprinkle with parmesan cheese then bake about 10 more minutes. Let cool in pan for a few minutes before removing and slicing.
By the way, sifting flour is as easy as pouring it into a strainer and just shaking it through. You don't need one of those silly cups with the squeezy handle to do this. Sure, they're cool but what a pain in the butt that would be.
Enjoy!
