October Highlights

Ah, yes, another month come and gone. This month we were so busy! Here's a recap of the highlights...
  • I have been LOVING getting my Bountiful Baskets every Saturday. The only part that stinks is that I have to pick them up early in the morning, which isn't too "Friday night friendly". Some weeks have better baskets than others, but overall I'm really happy with the quality and selection I've gotten. This month we've received sweet potatoes, pomegranates, tomatillos, parsnips and homemade tortillas, among the 'regular' stuff. It's been fun trying new food and recipes and so far we've only disliked the artichokes and eggplant.
  • The Dawgs are doing great! They finished their regular season with a 6-1 record and have won two playoff games. This Saturday they are in another playoff game with the team they lost to in the regular season, so it should be a good one. If they win, then it's on to city championships! Oh, and I have to brag a moment - Justin had an awesome interception in last Saturday's game!
  • Eric is still working at a tire shop locally, though we wish he had more hours. He was promoted to tire tech and has been doing balancing and a bunch of other mechanical stuff I don't understand. He is still loving it and learning more and more each day.
  • Speaking of Eric, he is going to join the military after high school graduation next Spring. After that, he's going to use the ROTC to train as a helicopter pilot. We are very proud of him, and of course support his decision. I can't believe I'll be the Mom of a military serviceman. Next summer is still a long way off, but it is going to be weird not having him around.
  • My crafty spirit continues to thrive. I've already started a few Christmas gifts and hope to complete them soon. Mom your birthday present will be in the mail in a few weeks - I hope you like it! (I do - made one for myself too!) I've also decided to sew together a simple quilt-style duvet cover for our down comforter. Our old one finally bit the dust last season (in other words - the hole Duke had chewed in it got too big for my liking). I will post a pic when I'm done.
  • Another Halloween has come and gone - nothing to thrilling for us anymore. The kids are too old to dress up or trick-or-treat, so we just enjoyed seeing the neighborhood kids stop by for treats. There weren't many though. Duke scared most of them by playing the watchdog - apparently he doesn't like costumes.
Here's Justin's interception - GO DAWGS!

Coming up in November...
  • More Dawgs football!
  • Kitchen re-style
  • Hosting BUNCO/game night
  • Thanksgiving
