March Highlights

Another busy month in our household. Here's what we've been up to!

Lacrosse! Justin is doing great on the JV team, though he's certainly not getting the amount of playtime he did on the junior high team (which really is to be expected). His best play this month was his left-handed goal in Tucson. I planned the end-of-season party for the team at Brunswick Zone and it was really fun, even for the adults. The kids enjoyed bowling, pizza, cake and games - and the staff there was incredible to work with. Imagine how difficult it would be to keep 25 twelve- to thirteen-year-old boys captivated and in control! I highly recommend them.

I was in Fresno, CA for a meeting - not really my favorite California destination, but the people I worked with were terrific. I had the DISpleasure of experiencing the new body-scanner devices at the airport. I hate them. I'm seriously considering refusing to go through next time and taking the pat-down instead.

We've been trying to be healthier with diet and exercise and it's finally paying off. I've lost 17 pounds since Christmas and Terry has lost over 25 pounds! I'm so proud of him! It hasn't been easy, but it's really not so bad. I don't even miss most of the foods that I used to eat. And since I'm doing Weight Watchers, if there's something I really want, I can absolutely have it! I just have to plan properly and sacrifice elsewhere. I've been walking the dog more as well, which is enjoyable for both of us, though the desert summer is just around the corner, so not sure how that is going to pan out.

Speaking of healthy lifestyles, I'm still enjoying the Bountiful Baskets Co-Op. I don't do it every week, but at least every two weeks. It's been great because we get to try things that we wouldn't normally have had, and some of them have turned out pretty good. Last week we got organic mangoes and heirloom tomatoes, both of which were scrumptious. I've accumulated some new recipes for these foods, but when I'm lazy in doubt I just make soup! It's both easy and healthy, and definitely filling too.

Eric's knee is getting better. He starts physical therapy tomorrow, and hopefully will be off the crutches soon. He's already been putting some weight on it, even though the doctors have told him not to. I hope he heals OK, because he doesn't want the injury to affect his admission into the Navy.

Not a lot of excitement this month, but sometimes that's OK! April will bring us a visit from my brother who's been in Iraq for a year, warmer weather, and of course Easter!
