Spicy Honey Grilled Chicken
Technically, the sauce for this is called “Spicy Honey Chicken Wings & Tenders” at Frank’s Red Hot© official website. But because I’m all about serving lower fat/healthier food to my family, I adjusted the recipe a bit by using boneless, skinless chicken breasts and grilling instead of frying. And thus, a slight adjustment to the name as well.
Here’s the original recipe: Frank’s Red Hot© Spicy Honey Chicken Wings & Tenders
Here’s my variation…not that off from the original.
Spicy Honey Grilled Chicken
1-1/2 to 2 lbs. boneless chicken breasts or tenderloins
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup honey mustard
1/3 cup Frank’s Red Hot© Cayenne Pepper Sauce
Preheat grill.
Combine honey, mustard and Red Hot sauce in a measuring pitcher or small bowl. Set aside.
Place chicken in a large bowl – note if you are using chicken breasts you may want to cut them into smaller portions and/or score them in the thickest part of the breast in order to ensure more even cooking.
Pour about 1/3 of the sauce over the chicken and stir until well-coated. Place chicken on preheated grill and cook covered on low setting about 10 minutes. Discard any sauce left over in the bowl as it has been mixed with raw chicken.
After 10 minutes, turn chicken pieces over. Using a basting brush, coat chicken with more sauce and continue grilling, covered on low, for another 10 minutes. Turn chicken over again and baste with another coat of sauce. Grill for 1-2 minutes then transfer to serving plate (make sure the chicken is completely cooked, of course!)
Serve with leftover sauce for dipping.
Note: This sauce is strikingly similar to one of our favorite wings sauces found at Zipp’s Sports Grill called Golden Wing Sauce.
