In honor of Mad Men premiere night - a look at 1960s advertising

We have a little book I picked up on the discount rack at Barnes and Noble...

It's fun to look through. Here's a Peter Max (one of my fave artists) Campbell's Soup ad. I think I need to get ahold of some old Peter Max posters to decorate my walls.

And this contraption for drying hair...

I like the concept of a hands-free hair dryer but do you think it's quiet enough for her to actually be talking on the phone?

This ad is my favorite, not because of the artwork but the copy...

It says that by the year 2000 we will have homes with air for walls and cars with no wheels. Maybe that was off, but it also says our lives will be enhanced by cordless appliances and TV wrist telephones that speed everyday communications. I heard that 2014 will be the year of wearables - looks like they were off by a decade and a half but it seems pretty spot on!

I'm rooting against the wheel-less cars since hubby works for a major tire company and our livelihood would be negatively impacted. Also here in Arizona I'd prefer to keep my house's walls since they're so good at keeping the air conditioning inside while protecting us from scorching temps outside. I'm guessing my friends and family in colder states would agree.

But sign me up for an iWatch and a cordless hair dryer!
