Weekend update

Lovely weekend - we started out enjoying a well-deserved get-together with neighborhood friends Friday evening. On Saturday morning I finally got our pics from December's Hawaii trip uploaded to Flickr. By the way, you can click on that link to get to the album, or just view the slide show in the sidebar --->

So much has happened since then - so many things have changed for us since then - it seems like so long ago that we were actually there. Looking at the photos helps us to remember the good times that we had and I will truly cherish them forever.

Saturday night we enjoyed a quiet dinner at home, then watched "Up In The Air" which was better than I thought it would be. I thought the ending was appropriate, although it wasn't the typical romantic ending that we have come to expect. Now we need to rent "The Hurt Locker" though friends have said it's only OK. I figure the reason it won so many awards was political, but I'd still like to see it. Speaking of movies, there's a whole lot coming out that I really want to see - the new Shrek movie, "Iron Man 2" and "Clash of the Titans" to name a few.

Sunday was spent attending church in the morning followed by a brunch at home - typical. After that, we went for a hike at the Gilbert Riparian Preserve which is basically a large park built as a preserve for the area's wildlife - to counteract all the building that's been going on here. Terry's mom especially loved looking at the birds as they swam, flew and dove for food in the lakes. Duke came along too, and he really enjoyed walking the trails and sniffing the new smells.

We ended our weekend with our usual family dinner, this time one of Justin's friends (Alex) also joined us. We had Justin's favorite food - barbecue ribs - along with homemade au gratin potatoes and crunchy cole slaw. Overall a good weekend, and busy, but not overly hectic.

Tomorrow our new employee starts at work, so hopefully things will calm down a bit for me. I'm looking forward to having regular hours and getting back to my own job instead of doing my assistant's work! Still, it's Monday tomorrow and how good can that be?
