Happy Father's Day
To all the dads out there - thank you for all you do.
This Father's Day has been tough, considering it is our first without Ray. In church today they sang "Call My Name" which was used during the Memorial Mass for him, and I still can't bring myself to sing it. I can still remember that cold New York day so clearly. We were at the church in the pre-ceremonial mode, worried about where we were going to sit, noticing people we hadn't seen in a while, lining up in a certain order for the processional. Then that song started. We walked down the aisle and that was the point when it hit me, and I lost it. It had been nearly two weeks since I had cried so hard. No matter how hard I tried to hold it together, I just couldn't sing through my sobs.
We miss you Raymond.
Of course we honor all dads and we're trying to make this an enjoyable day for Terry. After church, the boys made a breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes and toast. Later we'll be grilling out and enjoying Mile-High Peanut Butter Brownie Pie for dessert. Sandwiched in between it will likely just be a typical lazy Sunday of R and R, and a dip in the pool.
