4th of July 2010 weekend

Ahhh, another day of fun in the sun. This weekend Terry and I both had long weekends, but we didn't do anything too out of the ordinary. It was nice to just spend most of the time relaxing. It's been so hot here (as high as 117 some days) that nobody feels like doing much of anything anyway. It's a good time to just relax in the pool or hang out in the air-conditioned house and watch movies or reruns of Mad Men.

Speaking of TV, this is the worst time of the year. There's nothing good on that's new, anyway. Mad Men premieres on Sunday the 25th which is also incidentally Justin's birthday. We have been enjoying reruns of The Middle and now that Last Comic Standing is in the finals, it's becoming more interesting.

As for the actual July 4th holiday, we went to Jim & Kathy's for a small, low-key pool party where we enjoyed hot dogs, ribs, and margaritas. Check out the pics on the sidebar - just press the "play" symbol and you can view them without even leaving this site. I did wax nostalgic a bit and reminisce over my childhood 4th of July celebrations in Upper Michigan. I will share them someday, I'm just too tired to go through it now. I have to say, they were genuinely happy memories from my childhood, but as most things like this go, I didn't treasure them at the time.

This Friday is BUNCO which I am looking forward to. I am also hopeful that I will find the time and energy to give the house a good once-over cleaning this weekend too. I've been wanting to paint the trim indoors as it's become so marked up and past the point of simply washing it to clean. I just know it's a very ambitious undertaking.
