Meet me on Monday 7/26/10

1. What one food could you eat every single day?
When we were in Italy I had margherita pizza and caprese salad every day for lunch - I think I could enjoy that if it was authentic and the tomatoes were always "good" (a problem we have here in Arizona is lack of good tomatoes).


2. Do you wear glasses or contacts?
Yes - I wear contacts daily but sometimes give my eyes a break and use glasses instead.


3. What kind of cell phone do you have?
I have a Palm Pre, but I'm trading it in soon. Tired of the lag time and how it takes so long to get to what I want to do. Why can't I just press a button or too to open a simple email message?


4. What did you have for dinner last night?
Last night was Justin's family birthday dinner, and I made some luscious barbecue ribs. Homemade rib rub, homemade sauce. They turned out awesome, I must say.


5. What is your favorite candy?
Wisconsin candy raisins, which have now become extinct, sadly.

    I love candy raisins! Buddy Squirrel has them I am pretty sure. Not sure if you can order them online or not. Your dinner last night sounds fantastic. I wondered how people liked the Palm Pre.

Hello bloggy friends! 2011 is off and running and as usual, so am I. I was hoping to get more recipes posted but just been too busy! With what, you ask? Here's a start... I did some crafty blog searching and found this tutorial from Sew Dang Cute for wide binding and mitred corners on a sweet little minky-backed baby blanket. Unfortunately I got lost along the way on the binding part, but figured out how to do it my own way and they both turned out terrific! Penguin cookies

Made these little cuties this weekend for my friend Leslie's 50th birthday party. As you could probably guess she collects penguins. It was my first experience using black icing - interesting. I had to remind myself that the color would darken after some time. At first it was an unappetizing gray-purple but as you can see it turned out black (as did our tongues after eating them). People say the black tint changes the flavor of the royal icing but I couldn't tell. Maybe because most if it was covered with white. It did take quite a lot if gel though. I used Americolor gel colors, in case you were wondering.
