April highlights

By now you've heard me say we've been busy a gazillion times, but it seems that the month of April topped the charts with activity. Here's a recap...

We finally wound down the lacrosse season. Justin had a great season, though very long with the combination of the Jr. High and JV team. I think he is glad it is over so he can take a bit of a break. Of course, football will be starting soon for him, so he's busy working with a trainer at our gym 3 times a week. It's obviously a great way for him to get in shape and increase his abilities, but I also like the fact that it's teaching him a more healthy lifestyle as he's also getting advice on things like nutrition.

Eric is still doing PT but doesn't need the brace anymore. He still can't run but if you didn't know it, you'd never guess he had knee surgery. This is good news of course, but he'll still have to keep working in order to pass the physical for the Navy. It's hard to believe he will be graduating in just a few weeks. Nothing makes you feel older than when your own kids grow up.

Terry has continued losing weight. He went to a follow-up appointment the other day and they calculated that he's lost a whopping 45 pounds. How awesome is that? I myself have dropped over 20 lbs. since the holidays. It hasn't been easy but obviously it's a great payoff.

Some of the fun things we did this month included a baby shower for my friend Alison who is due in just a few weeks. For her gift, I made her a car organizer and matching tote from McCall's pattern M4403. Her nursery theme is "toile" and I found this beautiful raspberry and lemon-colored material online. I wanted to keep these ones for myself but was thrilled to see how much she loved them.

I also made this spring wreath last fall with some ribbon I got on clearance. It was nice to finally break it out for Easter!

Over Easter weekend my brother Damian came for a visit. It was nice to spend time with him, even though we really didn't do much other than just hang out. We did go to Jim & Kathy's for Easter - it was a beautiful day!

On the 30th we went to Toby Keith's I Love this Bar and Grill in Mesa for a joint birthday celebration for Terry and our friend Todd. The food was just OK, but everything else was great - the prices, the atmosphere, the band, dancing and best of all wonderful friends we spent the evening with. A great way to close out the month.

What May will bring us...

  • Hot weather, summer's here!
  • Mother's day
  • Eric's graduation celebration
  • Visit from my sisters - including Allison and her whole family!

  1. Thanks Jen for sharing. Sometimes during the gray cold days, I miss the Arizona sunshine...not the heat, but the sun!
